Indian Minister Urges Domestic Airlines to Foster Global Aviation Hub
Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, urged local airlines to assist in establishing an international civil aviation hub in India and stressed the requirement for more wide-body aircraft to provide point-to-point international passenger services.
The minister stated that it is now time to establish a civil aviation centre in India as the government works on strategies to increase the nation's strong development potential in the civil aviation market.
The minister also emphasised the necessity of including additional wide-body aircraft in domestic carriers' fleets in order to establish the nation as a centre for international civil aviation during his remarks at industry group CII's annual meeting in the nation's capital.
In order to accomplish this, we require wide-body aircraft, which will allow us to travel direct routes rather than the detours that all of our passengers must take. Because of the intense competition on the domestic front, I implore his rivals to follow suit.
Since there aren't many wide-body aircraft operated by Indian carriers to run direct services on long-distance routes, the majority of passengers from India now fly on connecting flights to a variety of international locations.
Mr. Scindia also mentioned during his presentation that the country's civil aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) has shown significant progress.
We are now beginning to witness the results of the altered tax structure and incentive measures. With a $150 million investment, Safran is coming. I would implore Boeing to look into establishing an MRO in India as soon as possible. It has been a topic of numerous conversations and years of waiting. It's crucial to take that step forward, he said.
